The law, in its majestic equality, forbids all men to sleep under bridges, in SROs, or on lots smaller than 10,000 sqft — the rich and poor alike.
Their original design was this!

We did ridership modeling for the route and found that even without further investment in better speeds, ridership through VT would increase by over 600% by extending service to Montreal, and increased speeds could nearly double ridership again.

Testified and commented, but not worthy of study

VTrans released their new draft rail plan and chose to only model trips that begin or end in VT, ignoring the ridership that Montreal would have on Vermont services.

Hard to imagine any competent rail planning organization using such a provincial analysis to make planning and investment decisions.

It's wild to see cities with pretty similar urban form to Philadelphia have such poor access to transit. SEPTA provides 10x more trips per capita.

Surprised to see Allentown on the list of underperforming cities, but its permitting rates are really awful.

Not sure how urban places like Allentown or Reading will see significant development running 30 minute buses, requiring parking and banning density most places.

Whoa, that’s a lot of housing

Transit app doesn’t even suggest it for Temple to 49th, even though it requires fewer transfers

Bike mode share to regional rail is currently tiny.

Part of the problem is a lack of a safe bike network to access stations. But another is a lack of bike parking. Norristown Transportation center provides over 500 parking spots for cars and only 4 bike racks.

Improving cycling infrastructure would be a huge improvement to SEPTA's regional rail network.

The larger cachement areas and the improved density of bike parking relative to car parking would enable ridership growth if SEPTA ever moves forward with reimagining regional rail.

Good thing people can now safely bike to the gas station and the autozone

Thousands of new apartment units are coming online in walking distance of a handful of urban bus routes in Chittenden County. Even as ridership increases and buses struggle with overcrowding, we're planning to slash service.

With the Vermont Legislature back in session and thinking about housing affordability, I really hope there are voices in the statehouse making the case for urban development.

I'd be open to considering lot of Philly transit projects, but it's really hard to imagine lower hanging fruit than a PATCO extension to university city.

New sightline study suggests parking reforms are 70x more effective in generating new housing starts than ADU reforms in areas with access to transit.

Excited to go to the transit oriented horse show.

Sad to see representatives in charge of transit funding pushing for micro-transit services when we know that costs per rider far exceed fixed route service.

In 2023, the most expensive fixed route service cost just $14 per passenger, while the cheapest micro-transit service cost $28.

Probably never, but one could hope. Battery street is getting a road diet soon at least.

Brick paving and trolley tracks uncovered in Chinatown for resurfacing.

Imagining 10th street as a pedestrianized transit mall with restored trolley service.

Does Septa own the old Reading viaduct?

If so could they leverage it as a location for TOD if they built a new spring garden station?
