I think this is a good take.

Sometimes I fantasize about de-screening & de-teching—living like it’s 1990 or 1970. I watch movies & shows from that time or before & note w/ fascination what historical time capsules they are on how people did things—phone booths, dimes for a call, everything written or typed by hand. No SocMedia.

The consumers could say “No” to the products, too. That combined lack of band-wagonism by admins, students, faculty, staff, business owners, could give companies pushing the tech some pause in their investments & plans for deploying & integrating the tech. Maybe they’d try to hide it better though.

We stop reading anything published after, say, November 2022, to take a shot at a possible “day the algorithms took over” date. The weird pay-to-play publishing racket? Very hard to even touch and ethical reasons not to. Hope—a mere hope—for some “human-only-creation” seal on any publication.

Vocation U. What the actual fack is an “AI faculty” anyway? DH people, machine language, data science, someone who got a PhD in “prompting,” ffs? Many people in higher ed have spent the last few years burning a lot of attention on how to focus on learning in the midst of AI. Are they “AI faculty”?

No. It makes sense. The only other explanation is that some jr. staffer thought it would be good to do and Trump and Miller haven’t caught wind of it yet.

So they draw on the Neocon, “military force will save us from terrorism,” rhetoric. And Cheney’s temporary elevation to sainthood could help with that.

Ah, yeah that computes.
