Interesting take. I've seen elsewhere that there is no NATO and Russian as an official language which are both very hard to swallow too imho. No NATO is especially humiliating for both Ukraine and NATO.

The insurance part makes sense though. Thanks for all your great work btw. All those charts are extremely interesting and I've not seen anything like it anywhere else.

Ah my bad and thanks for the clarification. I guess with Russia the distinction between the private sector and the state is not clear to me and to be honest I always expect some kind of budget line like "special spending on oil infrastructure" that would cover air defense but also some repairs.

This does not seem to match mediazona very well. For 2022 they had 17814 deaths. For 2023 33878. But this is only confirmed deaths so I would expect the excess death to be well above the confirmed list. Especially when their probate registry estimate is constantly twice that. Am I missing somethg ?

Based on our own and open sources, a Russian Su-35 fighter jet based at the Borisoglebskoye airfield was shot down today by a Ukrainian F-16. The aircraft crashed near the village of Yurasovo in Kursk oblast. Unfortunately, the pilot ejected and survived.
