I remember reading somewhere that Bradbury only contributed one story to The Twilight Zone because most of his tales would be too high budget to produce, despite fitting the vibe so well. This feels like the perfect example of that.

Visceral descriptions of scents, both terrible and divine! A flood of information on 18th century perfume making techniques! I loved it.
And one of my favorite quotes: “Naturally, the gnome had everything to do with it.”

so much fun with this one… corrupt magical empire murder mystery starring a weary, lanky bisexual trying his best. With a sprinkle of eldritch beasts on the side.
So glad this is told from Din’s POV, every new investigation feels like this pic.

I’ve been cooking a lot of mushroom varieties from the local farmers market and wanted to learn more about what’s out there. Mushrooms are cool! Mushrooms are scary! Mushrooms are friends…

Ok this 27 hour behemoth of an audiobook has been taking up most of my listening time the last week, but it was well worth it. History really is a flat circle.
Also finally my cue to finally watch the Nolan film this book inspired…

Very good sci-fi story that asks the important question of what if a fucked up doctor with a God/savior complex could manipulate the fabric of reality through another man’s dreams? The answer is turtles. Don’t worry about it.

Liked how whenever some ridiculous plot twist happened a character would comment something like “no way…that only happens in fiction...” At least it’s aware of how ridiculous it is!

Went into this mostly blind and was not disappointed. Quiet, isolated dystopian story that left me feeling both very empty and very full.
