artist/writer. currently reading lots of comics and writing! i am very opinionated.
also, being forced to just live with the lines you put down (and only correcting by going over with a darker color) helps SO MUCH with drawing confidence. i'm less than 10 pages into this exercise and already feel a LOT better when drawing than i did before.

10/10 recommend

lovingly cleaning up a sketch to perfection can have it's own charm... sometimes. but it's exhausting when you feel like you have to do it for everything. being forced to just Deal with mistakes is so much better. you stop taking it overly seriously and just have Fun yknow

i'm someone who can get "scared" when drawing traditionally, where i start to way overthink and carefully sculpt out and clean up a sketch before ever getting to color. and while this can lead to some really nice results, it takes forever ! and most of the time i never finish !! also it's boring

i have pretty heavy perfectionist tendencies despite my blasé attitude. if i've decided something is going to be "finished", i tend to take it to extremes: i try to get it as perfect as possible. and y'know? that's fucking exhausting!

digital art lets you do this into forever. traditional does not.

YMMV but i've never learned that much from focused studies if they weren't directly attached to specific drawings/illustrations. quick vibe sketching has always done me WAY more good

focused studies can be good -- WHEN YOU NEED THEM (like for a specific illustration)! but i think there's way too much emphasis on that idea and it causes people (ME) to not do as many art studies as they should

i have INFINITELY more patience for art now than i did even 2-3 years ago. waiting for something to dry between color layers used to be unfathomable lol
