Been procrastinating from #gamedev today... by doing some gamedev. A little #nes / #famicom sidescrolling prototype written in assembly

Working on my long-term #NES game, trying to cram a little too much into 40KB. I could go bigger but I really want to make at least one 'nrom' game that doesn't need extra mapper hardware on the cart.

Included obligatory glitched out failed map loading, #famicom errors always fun

Functional as normal joysticks now, right stick grip body doesn't quite close neatly, leaving an annoying gap. #flightsim #hotas

Organised some of my #famicom collection with my boy. He wanted rainbow sorting which led to much debate as to where brown and pink sit on the rainbow. Going to make nice top labels for all the carts without in the near future #nes #fc

Had a strong urge for a chibi #tachikoma from #gits so I printed one, assembled and painted it instead of doing any work at all today. My brushwork sucks and my printer settings definitely need some refinement but I am more pleased than this guy is

So far the joysticks look like this. I'm 3D printing the parts and building the electronics. They're angled inwards more like bike handlebars or throttles. Is this a good idea? Guess I'll find out soon!

I've been building some custom #joysticks. Today I recorded myself doing surface mount soldering for the axis sensors. I'm not a professional 😹

The plan is to make two good quality controllers for playing spacesim games

Time to start on bsky. I write retrogames, do too many gamejams, draw and sometimes make hardware.
