When someone is seeking your endorsement (of you individually and/or of your political organization), and broadcasting that their run is contingent on the endorsement, it seems pretty normal to say something?

If anything, DSA catches strays for lack of discipline. This was quite disciplined.

"Is Hakeem Jeffries bad?" is not the question that was in front of NYC-DSA.

The Dems can pick a different leader from among their 213 representatives, that's not on Mamdani/DSA.

The question in front of NYC-DSA was "is this the right candidate and the right election cycle to mount this challenge?"

yes it does. KEXP kept it in rotation for years.

we are used to 'paper endorsements' that come from journalistic outlets and interest groups, which are just a signal "we think you should vote this vs that" - but DSA is not a journalistic outlet or an interest group. 'endorsement' in this context is not the same.

happy to forward you information about the publicly stated reasoning if you're curious. no need, if you're not curious. IMO, it's good for orgs to decide what an endorsement means to and from them, democratically create criteria, and transparently discuss those with a campaign seeking endorsement.

I see I'm the second one to post "Getting Killed" by Geese. Pretty sure h/t @jonhegglund.bsky.social for a post that pushed me over the tipping point into giving it a listen (and then 5 more)

As someone who administered it hundreds of times... yes. The folks who did poorly on it were mostly a handful of days out from a serious traumatic brain injury.

I did NOT say that it would have been better if they had gone after Fox (perhaps, perhaps not). I simply pointed out that NOT going after them did not stop the right from still abusing the same power against the center-left, so arguments about 'precedent' & 'slippery slopes' really don't work here!
September 19, 2025 at 12:56 AM
Right, the story of what is that the center-left DIDN'T use the power against Fox, and then the right-wing DID use the power against the left-center anyway! So not using it didn't prevent anything!
