This community-driven event honors our loved ones through altars, music, food, and culture. We thank El Centro for continuing this beautiful tradition that brings us together year after year.

It’s one of his favorite things—browsing old movies, searching for cassette tapes, getting his watch battery replaced, or just being out there.

But yesterday, I asked him not to go.
Because they’ve taken even our simplest, safest places.

No businesses were looted. Graffiti was cleaned up immediately. All on-the-ground reports confirm the protests were peaceful. I will not stand by while young people in my city are criminalized for rightfully expressing their anger and sense of betrayal by this country.

And I call on my colleagues - who like to point fingers - to set aside personal egos and recommit to our shared responsibility: protecting our residents, standing up for civil liberties, and doing the real work of keeping families together.

I showed up to express my concern about the federal government’s overreach & to defend the rights of my community.

I invite the mayor to reach out if she has genuine questions or wants to better understand what’s happening in our neighborhoods.

I’m proud to stand with UPTE, AFSCME 3299, the OC Labor Federation, and all the workers rising up to reclaim their voice.

Because when workers rise, we all win.
