And here I was thinking they probably meant leftists when they said liberals, not mainstream democrats. But you might be more right :D

Amusingly, that "wyvern" rule comes from Rennaissance English Heraldry and has never applied to folklore or any other area where big winged lizards have been involved.

Yeah, the fact that it was a stupid idea was not exactly an obscure opinion back in the day.

mostly because that bed costs money that they don't get by staying in it. (at least, not in PG campaigns)

My top 10 games I want to play/run are:
1) Night's Black Agents
2) The Dark Crystal Adventure Game
3) Mothership
4) Runequest
5) Polaris (the elf one, not the water one)
6) Nahual
7) Jiangshi
8) Heart
9) Longwinter
10) Band of Blades

Seven Part Pact will go on there when it's released.

Love Technoir and Traveller. Night's Black Agents, Mothership, and Band of Blades are on the to do list as well.

I started playing in 1979 and half my gaming group is older than I am. :D

Anyway, pretending that older players than you aren't relevant doesn't change your "always" comment's inaccuracy.

nah, there was like 5 years in the 70s when it was almost all wargamers :P

My question is more like "why am I paying you if its just the stuff I can make at home?"

Mongoose is going to make money from the license and it will sell Charted Space books (of setting material) to Traveller D&D players. And WLG will sell Charted Space books to Mongoose players. But probably neither will steal players from the other rule set.
December 2, 2025 at 5:41 AM
There's no internal fight. Another game company is licensing a setting from Mongoose to make a 5e derived game. Traveller has done this a lot. GURPS, HERO, D20/3.5 all had Charted Space books. People used products from all four versions of Charted Space interchangeably. Just not the mechanics.

Wasn't it too short per the assignment specs? I didn't count them, but I assertions it was less than 620 words, which was listed as a "auto 0" in the assignment?
December 1, 2025 at 1:56 AM
I do think the constant confusion between Traveller (the game system) and Charted Space (the main setting) is only furthered by this kind of branding. This is like The Game System by A Different Game System. But they did the same thing with T20/GURPS/HERO. Instead of The Setting by Other Game.

I feel like a lot of people think Mongoose Publishing is making this game themselves? It looks to me like World's Largest RPGs asked for a license and Mongoose sold them one? So I don't think it can hurt Mongoose or Traveller itself.

If you released Rogue One as a standalone movie, it wouldn't work. It doesn't spend the time on the context of who these people are or why we should care. So, in that sense, it's a bad movie.

But it is one of the most fun to watch of the movies, imho. Because I have seen the original Star Wars.

oh, I see others already mentioned that. Oh well :D

I hear Mandarin, Tagalog, Chamorro, English, Hawai'ian, Spanish, and Japanese on an average day (unless I spend the day entirely at home :P). With Samoan, Korean, Russian, Ilocano, and a few others pretty regularly.

I don't see what the problem is.

Thanks. That was the impression I got. Ah well.

Is Leverage even available anymore? I was looking for it in pdf (Not super intensely, admittedly) the other day when I realized I didn't have my copy any more.

Subsidy in Hawai'i for someone making $50k a year (Low for HI) is about $600/month.

Yet even before the ACA, HI has had a state law requiring all employers to cover any employee working 20+ hours/week and capping employee premiums at no more than 1.5% of earnings.

Feel sorry for the self employed.
October 18, 2025 at 4:00 AM
Unsubsidized, the ACA plans in HI for a 56 yr old non smoking male range from $680 to $1120/month. All of them are inferior to the plan I have at work, but the plans in the $600 to $800 range are practically worthless, with deductibles so high you'd never exceed them without major surgery.

But was your new passport illegal? Because it's illegal to print US currency with images of living people. Closest you can come is commemorative coins, which are made by a different mint.

I guess if you think you are buying that module to run that module and then get annoyed you have to rewrite it. I don't buy modules expecting that I'd run them; they can't know me or my players. I buy them because they have cool art/maps/monsters and might have cool ideas I hadn't thought of.
October 5, 2025 at 5:02 PM
I read a lot of modules. Not so much for D&D these past few decades, but in general. I don't ever run them *as written*. It's not written for your table. It can't be. So I always write my own adventure, stealing stuff (like maps, locales, concepts) I like and ditching the rest.
