Ramen museum is life. If ever in Yokohama I will always recommend going.

Crazy to think how 2025 has been so far. There have been complexities for sure but we are working through it to get Culture Cue out into the world.

#SXSW was a fun time and got to show off the game.

For a #gamedev tip make sure to get your game out there as much as possible.

That is why culture cards are vital to allowing players to bring them experiences, culture, and stories front and center.

One important part of creating Culture Cue during the design process was to focus on creating gameplay mechanics that let people share their differences.

We believe in making games where people can bring their differences to the table and don't support divisiveness.

And a quick #gamedev tip while here: iteration is always good but it is also important to know when to stop. Figure out your design goals early to work towards that final design! And remove what runs counter to those goals.

Random Post: so like this would be a smart investment for my next case right? Right! Got my first contender for 2025 😬

Been doing a ton of fiddling with RPG Maker MZ sprites (like the flexibility a bit more than MV). Definitely been great for #prototyping and getting out some quick #gamedev ideas. Definitely work it for those that want to get something quick out there.

Hopefully can be a useful #tip for many.

#gamedev tip: Printing business cards can be a pain but you know what can help...a digital business card. You can just open up the image and have a QR code for scanning. It especially helps when you forget or run out of physical cards.

Been wanting to give my personal site a little bit of a facelift this year. Finally getting around to it and loving how its coming out so far. Can't wait to finish it up and share it out. Removing some of the old to get some new shiny in there.

Biggest changes during #gamedev on this was the Board and to a minor extent is the logo.

The coolest part of #gamedev is seeing how far your game evolves. From #prototyping to mostly finished! Culture Cue has been a big focus for me. Our experience designer really challenged us to get the game as #accessible as possible and we are always pushing for that.

My three keys for DMing are pretty simple:

1 - Notes on OneNote to organize players info, NPCs, plot points, generic enemy encounters and session notes

2 - Setting Guides + Random Table to fill with encounters and content

3 - Let the dice decide

Paper prototyping fun! Decided it is time to update my personal website this year and give it a fresh coat of paint. This starts with drawing out the base ideas to help get a plan set.

Happy New Year Everyone!

Hopefully everyone was able to recharge a bit at the end of last year. Been spending time to plan for 2025 and getting marketing going on some projects.

Trying new things and taking time to enjoy what is around. Hopefully we can all make the best of 2025!

Merry Christmas to all that celebrate and happy holidays to all!

Got the Christmas trees up and plan on spending the week getting them setup based on themes. Little one is the #gaming tree and the other #comics #movies tree.

Also having the right tools for testing ideas can be useful. Dice, post it, pencils, USB drive, or other things are nice to have for testing things on the fly.

When it comes to game planning and game design I personally prefer to get ideas down on paper. It can help to get those ideas down as soon as possible. You never know what can be a great idea in the making and it is always risky to think you will remember it later.
December 6, 2024 at 3:47 PM
I also like using traditional pen and paper notebooks for getting ideas down too. Like unique mechanics or systems to integrate into my games or general ideas for game systems, settings, or encounters. Main thing is to get those ideas down as soon as possible.

As a game / dungeon master I love to make use of tools to keep track of campaigns / settings / ideas. One note is my current tool. Sections and pages make it easy to organize ideas and game notes during and before a game.

I make games both professionally and side-professionally. Side wise I am working on getting board games to market and been primarily focused on this game Culture Cue. The goal is to keep making game people can get together around and have a good time.
