idk if this counts but my opinion that would be VERY unpopular in-universe: Replicator food is awesome and "it's not REAL food" is a reactionary dogwhistle. For some characters in particular I think it's the fact that everyone can access it equally that makes them hate it.

It takes time to source the sharks with lasers on their heads for the Hudson river. Especially with tariffs in place!

It's late and we haven't blocked each other so thank you for the chat, but I have to leave it here with this:
If people feel you're talking down to them, your intent doesn't matter. If Dems don't care about how they come across, they should consider law firms instead of politics. Politics is social.

Dems have done all these things before. They can do it again, but it will take time and effort to counter a self-sustaining conservative media ecosystem built over the last few decades while Dems retreated.

Even just changing the aversion to appearances and attention Biden had would help.

I'm old enough to remember the legendary success of the OFA, the "snowflake strategy" (long before that term was used as a snarl word), and funding for party news media. I'm old enough to have seen these things absorbed by the NDRC, funds cut, and consultants/mainstream venues take their place.

I explain it firstly by pointing out the 30k to 50k margin conveniently left out, which swung towards Trump particularly in swing states.

Secondly that only a portion below that line was needed as an addition to that in said swing states.

Lastly, that Republicans do great with resentful petits.

Obama won back-to-back victories on Hope & Change. Biden won by promising Build Back Better and a change from Trump's first term. Dems lose every time they're the "protect our sacred cow institutions" and "let's not rock the boat" party.

We need more fireside chats, less beltway stats.

2nd, you don't need the votes of everyone who hates Obamacare. But you can certainly convert a few while energizing your base. Do you have any idea how hungry this country is for Democrats that don't talk down to them? That actually speak in terms of change instead of protecting the status quo?

1st: It's imperative to understand that *anything* can be framed positively or negatively. The point I made was that many of the same people who would say they hate "government run healthcare" would be proud supporters of what is, in fact, government run healthcare. IF you sell it to them right.

then your economic reality was very different from the bottom half. People surveyed above the midway point were comfortable and in fact, doing pretty good! Which contributes to the disconnect between segments of the population.

The same surveys said "inflation & prices" were everyone's top concern.
November 12, 2025 at 12:26 AM
You're referring to the SHED reports. "Historically high levels" leaves out the rather critical detail that *everyone* reported they were worse off compared to the years prior to Covid.

They also back up everything I've said and linked here, which is that if you were already moreorless above water,

He's talking about core inflation, which is what many of the good numbers about the economy were based on, especially at the time. CPI is slightly different: it just sucks. Especially for rural prices and substitutions.

It's good for a snapshot. Not complete forecasts. That's the mistake.

The irony of your first sentence compared with your second. Just the monumental, earth-shattering irony. You will never look in a mirror.

But, that's alright.
They didn't accurately notice because high costs either swallowed them or were too heavy to notice anything else. That's your answer.
