Given everything on Trump’s plate right now, i.e. Epstein, inflation, ICE, court losses, and his increasingly dementia-addled brain, Canada is way under his radar. Just leave it that way.

95% of current US trade is transacted virtually tariff free under USMCA rules at least until July of next year when it’s scheduled for renewal. I can’t imagine anything we could negotiate at this time that could possibly improve on that. 2/3

Pete Hoekstra is US ambassador only because he is a sycophantic Trump clown. He is not particularly worldly or bright, has no previous diplomatic experience and zero power over anything related to Canada US relationships. Why does CBC report on him except to stir up animus?1/3

There are no trade negotiations because there is no possible outcome of a revised agreement with a dictator wannabe who has proven he will cancel it on a childless whim. 95% of current US trade is transacted tariff free under USMCA rules at least until July of next year when it’s up for renewal.2/3

One of the many boomers experienced with caring for aged parents, I couldn't help but compare Trump's UN speech with the demented ramblings I've witnessed in the halls of care homes. Completely oblivious to the fact, in front of the whole world, that he is living alone in his own false reality.

If I was a world leader, I would propose a UN resolution recommending Norway give Trump the Nobel Peace Prize on condition he first resign the US presidency and retire from public life forever. I'm afraid he's not quite demented enough to do it but at least he will have earned it.

Looks like he heard ya Charlie. Will you be congratulating him now? As an opinion leader, I think its important that you humbly and fairly note when your opinion has been changed. It is how you keep supporters like me. Otherwise, you're just another rage baiter.

How upset are Canadians with Trump? A survey shows 90% agree he is a bully, a liar and a cheat. In every measurable way, we are disassociating ourselves from the USA, once our greatest ally and friend, and we’re never going back. Read this article. Its not funny at all.

Not for the first time, Trump validated through his ignorant and boorish behavior the worst perceptions of Americans held by Canadians. We don’t think its funny when he calls us “the 51st state”, lies about fentanyl smuggling and slaps punishing tariffs on us in spite of a FTA he himself signed.2/3

I generally enjoy your commentary but on this your insight is myopic. We Canadians respect the history and traditions of our parliamentary democracy that go back a millennium (google: Magna Carta), including the royal prerogatives of our King who represents the “Commonwealth” of our nation. 1/3

I generally enjoy your sardonic comments and sarcastic wit but this comment is crass, mean and pathetic. Do you have no children? Did it not occur to you how it might have broken his father's heart to have to do the right thing and turn his son in?

What are they scared of? Losing a few million of the tens or hundreds of millions they have? Literally, among the most privileged people in the world. The same people who voted for and donated to Trump because of his tax cuts for rich people. F...ing hypocrites and cowards.

Trump and his sycophants, like Benny Johnson and Jeanine Pero, talk fascist "tough" about emptying black neighborhoods and clearing the streets of homeless people but no one in the cowardly media pool seems daring enough to ask the simple question: Where will you be disappearing these people TO?

The author of uses the hockey analogy of "ragging the puck" to describe Carney's lay low and delay tactics in negotiations to continue to trade under CUSMA where 95% of goods continue to trade tariff free. That's what a team does when it is winning, slow the game down and play out the clock.

Why Canada Isn't Sweating Trump's Mob Tactics
For months, Trump has railed against Canada, threatening to turn America’s neighbor into the 51st state — but the U.S. still has a treaty with Canada.
