HALFTIME IN ATLANTA: Tennessee 31, Syracuse 14

Tennessee with less than 11 minutes of possession, but that's Tennessee. Doesn't matter. Still 340 yards of offense, 31 points.

Plenty to clean up, but much more good than bad, especially for an opener.

Touchdown, Tennessee.

Joey Aguilar 73-yard dime to Braylon Staley on a post.

So that's an answer.

That two-out rally from Tennessee didn't just tie this game.

It also means there's a much stronger chance Gavin Kilen and Andrew Fischer will get at least two more ABs in this game.

@wesrucker.bsky.social I think that I’m very happy that M. Phillips pitched well and had a pick off tonight. Great for him. Now the Vols need to finish this game with a win and get ready for tomorrow.

AJ Russell had the same velocity around 50/60-pitch mark as he did at the beginning.

Only dropped a tick at 80 pitches.

Tremendous news for Tennessee — and for him, with the draft approaching.

As long as they don't throw punches or dome each other with fastballs, this is what a rivalry rubber game should be.

They ain't gotta like each other. It's better when they don't.

@wesrucker.bsky.social last nights decision making and today’s strike zone have been a black eye on the SEC and the officiating crew. Must be better-not perfect, but better.

You either don’t start the game, or you make both teams put their ace out there for a competitive inning.

Are there any adults involved in this process?

You could grab two large chunks of metal and run naked onto that field right now, and it wouldn't be the dumbest or second dumbest thing I've seen the past 34 minutes.

And NOW they’re gonna delay it, when Liam Doyle has thrown and Auburn ace Samuel Dutton hasn’t?

This is absolute insanity.

Not sure who Dalton Bargo irritated on this crew, but that's the second time in two days he got rung up on a bad call. That's a ball.

But Kentucky is living near the strike zone, so it's gonna get more calls.

Did I miss the memo on basketball players now being allowed to take like 3-4 gather steps when they catch the ball?

Happens at least a few times every game.

Not the worst thing ever, but it's just never called anymore.

When you practice a particular shot every day, and you're good at it, and the offense has things in place to get you those looks in a game, and you get the look in a game ... take the shot.

Horns have a good read on Tennessee's offense, as expected. Vols need to adjust. Mostly they just need to stop turning it over. That would be a good start.

It's a testament to the way Tennessee coaches defense that you can always spot the Vols' first-year players on the floor. They're the ones occasionally getting lost on defense and allowing open looks.

The second-plus-year players rarely do it.
