As a veteran I can confirm that the military really would try something this stupidly dangerous. I keep getting asked this and yeah. They hella would. They’re idiots. It’s a wonder anything ever got done.

I think I see what happened. In the BTS after the credits they had a lot of filming of the kids actually on bikes. I’m guessing it didn’t go well and they had to pivot fast to get the footage they needed.
And you’re right, it’s worth it for that scene with Halloran and the Hanlons. amazing writing.

Oh but there were some violent fades that were so unnecessary… and that bike scene felt right out of a 90s goosebumps episode. I still love the show but yeah the ball got dropped a little.
