Privacy tools, such as App Tracking Transparency, are crucial to the app ecosystem. They empower consumers to exercise control over their data, fostering trust between consumers and the developer/market.

Italy should reconsider its fine, and Germany should reach a similar conclusion in this matter.

This year we had to make some tough decisions. “To Air or to Pro?” That’s the question. After thinking long and hard, I decided that it was too hard to pick. So I got both. Problem solved! Oh, and I grabbed the new Ultra 3, AirPods Pro 3, plus some accessories. Let’s go! #iPhoneAir #iPhone17ProMax

Sideloading and alternative marketplaces lower the trust in the overall platform. I recently asked Google in a DMA workshop to do whatever is in their (legal) power to shift recourses back to Google services instead of DMA mandated distractions:

Last week I shared a complaint with @ec.europa.eu. The letter describes how new recent attacks on secure and safe online and digital platforms were enabled by the Digital Markets Act. I also touched on the serious security implications of of inaction.

You can read it in full in the pictures below.

Instagram is a similar story. Using the web version is a pain. Switching between private and business accounts logs the other one out, errors pop up all the time. So functionality is missing. Logging back int returns another error “Sorry, something went wrong”

The same happens with Twitter (or X). The web application locks the user out of Spaces, Livestreams and more features every few hours.
Refreshing the page doesn’t work, the user would have to turn the tab and/or browser off to get back in.

It is nearly impossible to get web whatsapp working on a phone, when you do, it eventually locks the user out of the experience again and it is a real pain to get back in as refreshing the page still enforces the lock out mechanisms. Even restarting the browser and phone doesn’t change anything.

Recently I spoke to Brazilian regulators about mobile webbrowsers.

The strong lies being pushed by lobbyists is: “Apple and Google purposely hold the web experience on mobile back”.

They asked me to tell them more about my own experience with Safari Mobile.

Here is what showed and said:

Back to my response: Massive companies use their brands to trick consumers (especially children) into handing over data. Most of these children do not read terms and conditions, EULA or privacy statements. Which is why Apple enforces Privacy Labels in App Store.

While I am drafting my follow-up, I want to zoom in on a specific paragraph in the Commission's response publicly. For convenience, I cut it out of context for you here but you can read it in context of course in the post above.

This week I received a letter from the European Commission in my inbox as a reply to my one of my letters of complaint against the Digital Markets Act. My letter zooms in on my opinion about cybersecurity risks and unintended consequences as a result of DMA.

For context, here is the full letter:

I have shared the following document with EU ombudsman.

I believe communication from (former) Commissioners breaks Code of Conduct and undermine public trust in the integrity of EU institutions and impartiality during the creation and enforcement of legislation like DMA.

Yesterday was an great day, ACT | The App Association ( actonline.org/eu/ ) organised a panel with a topic that is very interesting to me & my company @vaicat.bsky.social:
"Bridging the gab between government (policy) and innovation".

As a proud ACT member, I had the opportunity to join the panel.

Recently started testing the first M4 family Macs that came in (M4 Mac mini and M4 Max MacBook Pro).

These Macs are amazing, I think this is my favourite M-series chip since M1 even though I upgraded every year. The boost in performance is insane!

Since I have been sending this document to a lot of politicians over the last few days, I think it is only fair to show the attachments publicly as well. Start, of course, with the first one.
