UK has very good food wherever you go, nowadays, but that was because of different cultures moving here in the past. You are right about coffee. Best coffee in Europe is in Italy and Greece. The rest of Europe has mediocre coffee.

There are still some extremely niche cases where oracle performs exceptionally well, like large 3d datasets or topologically correct networks ...but I don't think anyone cares that much about those

Oracle were unrivalled in RDBMS until 2010. Since then it had indeed been surpassed. The only last innovation I remember are pluggable databases

I was writing windows software for a long time so I have only switched to linux the last decade. I don't know why it took me 2 years to try tmux. But since I tried it I never went back.
