I think there is a chance congress overrules him on any relaxation of sanctions.

The loss he faced in Congress yesterday will materially affect his power to act unilaterally and give Republicans the confidence to vote against him when necessary now that the world hasn't ended.

So what you are saying is that Labour's current policies defeat the far right and create room for real socialists to come to power?

Go Labour! McSweeney 4D chess!

It doesn't need to. The media won't bother asking them about silly little things like details.

Well this is the obvious outcome of a country choosing to shrink its population.

Every single person that they deport, arrest or simply terrify into remaining at home is a person that is no longer contributing to the economy, not just as a worker but also as a CONSUMER.

His credentials appear to be that he is an unofficial envoy for Steve Bannon and Trump.

I like it. 4D chess.
November 14, 2025 at 8:12 AM
Or they don't care. OBR review period is over, the lower bond rates are baked into the forecast for the budget, regardless of the reality of the actual bond rates on budget day.
November 14, 2025 at 8:07 AM
Panicked response or, hear me out, they never intended to raise income tax and it was merely a rouse to massage bond rates during the crucial OBR review period and now they're past that point they don't need to keep up the charade?

That is because Ed is across his brief, he believes in his mission and he is passionate about it.

Starmer is given his opinion by others and mostly fails to convey any sense that he believes in what he's saying.

Starmer was at his best at conference when he said what he actually believed.

Well the UK does own part of Antarctica. We could send them there? I'd feel sorry for the Penguins though.

Conservative and Labour leadership seem to have completely lost who they are and who their voters are.

It is Twitter Derangement Syndrome.

At this rate the next election will be between Greens, Lib Dems and Reform.
