My only qualm is that the title is misleading - I was hoping for some philosophy of life through the guise of cheese; It would be more aptly called A History of the World in 10 Cheeses or something like that. #books #bookreview #cheese #cheesebooks #booksaboutcheese

I got to check out the Edible Book competition yesterday at the Newberry and it was amazing. The Torte Man; the Unbearable Likeness of Beans; Frank in Stein. #books #ediblebooks #puns #punniestbooks #foodart

I loved this 2nd book in A Starlit Bookstore series. The first "How to Book a Murder" was a murder at a murder mystery party; now it's a murder around a mystery series. Yes, I'm all about this. #books #mystery #cozymystery

I have a lot of interests especially anything in the book world including antiquarian bookshops. I was fortunate to attend the Colorado Antiquarian Book Seminar back in the summer of 2019 which was supposed to be a full year's of antiquarian knowledge distilled into about a week. It was amazing.

I just finished the first book in the Last Ditch Mystery series. Catriona McPherson is hilarious. The premise is that Scottish transplant Lexy is on the verge of leaving California after the failure of her marriage.

I miss when Twitter was joyful. I loved reading Sue the Dinosaur’s tweets. I hope we’ll see something like that here soon. #dinosaurs #suethedinosaur #walltag #nonbinary

I love museums so much that I love reading about them. This one is the memoir of a former security guard and it’s beautifully written. I can’t wait to go back to the Met to check out the things he talked about. #museums #books #artwriting #art #themet

Sometimes you just finish a book that leaves you in awe. I'd be very surprised if this isn't one of my favorite books of the year. Yes, I've been a bit obsessed with all things space travel lately. #books #BookerPrize #space #spaceexploration #magic

This one is by Mayan artist Manuel Tzpc who has made a tiny book with the word "Corazon." I love that it comes in a little decorated book holder and a gold tray. Thanks again to the Newberry Library for the chance to see some of their new acquisitions last week. #tinybooks #books #artbooks #newberry

On Friday, I had a wild night out. I got to see some really cool books at the Newberry Library. One of the striking books was the Coffee Book by Dutes Miller and Stan Shellabarger in 2020. They recorded their morning coffee cups every day from Jan-August 2020. So cool. #books #artbook

I just finished this delightful historical mystery - kinda like a cozy mystery + spy novel. Fiona Fee has just discovered that her husband is having an affair and leaving her for his mistress. So what is a young woman supposed to do? Become a spy to ferret out a possible German spy in Ravenswick!

I loved this novelette. It's perfect for people who are really into books. It's the real correspondence between US writer Helen Hanff and British bookseller Frank Noel. It all starts when she asks to purchase some nice but not too expensive books and it's a little window into both of their lives.

One of my favorite books ever is @rykaaoki.bsky.social's Light from Uncommon Stars. It's a heartbreakingly beautiful story about a young trans woman. It's got donuts, starships, violins, and the devil. It was a madcap description that made me pick it up. Get it now. #books #bestbooks #bookbsky

Astonishing book. Gonna be in my top reads for 2025. A reminder that even if it’s hard, doing the right thing is the way. I’m looking forward to the third book in the Choir series. #europaeditions #books #thriller #WWII #resist

Adding two more books to my best of 2024: Jesse Q. Sutanto's 2025 Vera Wong's Guide to Snooping [on a Dead Man] is hilarious. The second is Dan Jurafsky's The Language of Food: A Linguist Reads the Menu, bringing together food and words, two favorite subjects.
