But my og mode of transportation in middleschool/college days was a Taurus locomotive with 30 year old train sets where you had to kick the pneumatic doors when pulling the release handle, if you wanted the door to open.

My daily driver is a Mercedes 190D 2,5. And in Winter it's public transport. My Benz is too well preserved for me to destroy it with de-icing salt.

I feel you, especially when it's about electrical work. I have an apprentiship in electrical engineering, so legally I could help with certified electrical work but I always feel like I'm in the way and to shy to ask if they would want my help😅
