My first time seeing a great grey owl! Watching it hunt, I really appreciated how well-earned the nickname "phantom of the north" is. Its plumage blends in seamlessly with tree bark and its flight is virtually silent. Such a privilege to witness.

I had a week last fall where this female harrier would pass by the same place at the same time every morning. Some days she would pass so close I would just put down my camera and admire her beauty.

For world wildlife day, here's a wider view of the relatively chill short-eared owl that I found in January. I sometimes get excited at close encounters and forget to step back and take something other than straight portraits, but I'm pretty happy I was able to stay calm enough here to remember.

I very much enjoyed watch this blue jay greedily grab as many peanuts as it could. Being one of the larger birds at the feeding station, it successfully retained its position and was able to snatch up most of what was there, leaving the smaller seeds to the smaller birds.

American kestrel on a wintry morning in January. Normally, I can't sneak up on this guy, but for some reason he was feeling a little more tolerant that morning.

I was lucky enough to catch this snowy owl in front of the last full moon of 2024.

Getting fed up with meta, and trying out alternatives. Any other wildlife photographers on here? This is a photo of a short-eared owl that I took earlier this month.
