As soon as I switched the HDMI cable over to the laptop, the mouse no longer felt laggy! So I can confirm we can definitely sense the difference between 30 and 60 Hz at the very least. 😅

I got a work laptop with a 144Hz screen a while ago. For months I was confused because my mouse would appear laggy until I made the connection that it was only on my external monitor and not the laptop screen. Turns out my external monitor was running 30Hz THE ENTIRE TIME BECAUSE OF MY USB HUB 😭

Fr unless it’s for multiplayer gaming, it’s possible to virtualise with little overhead. MP kinda kills this with anticheat 😭

I'm not a YouTube creator but I assume all Google cares about is that people are watching ads. So if anything you clicking again and sitting through an ad is better.

I doubt it significantly hurts long term retention: you click off, hit another video, and forget all about it.

If the flow is to assume it’s bullshit, ignore it, and follow reference links, how is that at all different from traditional search?
January 3, 2025 at 8:57 AM
What’s the point of it then? If you have to independently verify anyway, it’s just adding noise and wasting your time.

In Neil Stephenson's Anathem, the Internet is so diluted by garbage that filtering it out to get anything useful is a finely tuned IT skill.

SEO got us started but AI slop will get us over the finish line.

How can we ever trust an agent that tells us to eat rocks or fucks up basic fractions?

I think maybe I've just started noticing it since I've become aware of it.

I knew I’d started to see A/B testing all over YT months ago! Didn’t realise there were built in tools. Makes sense now.
