You just described every religion.

I don’t belong to a political party.

I feel connected to some specific atheists if we agree on key issues, but some atheists are selfish bigots.
Secularism is one of the most important things to me and that has not changed in the current climate. It’s always been at peak importance.

I tell people I am an atheist because I am also an anti theist which has its own definition.
There are plenty of atheists that are not anti theist. Those are the ones that typically don’t feel the need to proclaim they are atheist.
Again, words have definitions.

No, it’s not meaningless. The meaning is right there in the definition. The words definition and meaning are synonyms.

You are absolutely correct. This is exactly why atheist groups don’t do very well. We only have that one thing in common.
It’s like having a group for people that don’t like basketball.
We are both atheists. We both reject gods. That’s good, but you don’t get to redefine words.

I agree with everything you are saying, including “slander, threats of violence and lies that promote or incite violence should be illegal”

But then why are we allowing that stuff?
Because the term “free speech” is too vague. That’s what I’m saying.
We agree that free speech should have limits.
September 20, 2025 at 2:02 PM
Exactly. Atheism is the lack of theism and humanism is the respect for all human life.
However, humanism itself is not an organization, but there are humanist organizations.
Again, please consult a dictionary.
This is very easy and will keep you from looking foolish.

Again, atheism is only concerned with deities. You absolutely can be an atheist and believe in all of that stuff as long as it doesn’t involve believing in a god.
You know what else isn’t a requirement? Belief in truth of definitions.
You are an atheist that doesn’t believe in definitions.
September 20, 2025 at 2:52 AM
But, even if your incorrect definition was correct, none of that implies a respect for all human life.

You are thinking of humanism.
Many atheists are humanists, but not all of them.

A = lack of
Theism = belief in one or more deities

Fairies, witches, ghosts, leprechauns are not deities.

Also, witches are real. We call them Wiccan today, but they exist.

You are thinking of skeptics, empiricists, rationalists, or materialists.
Atheism has a different definition.
