The only middle ground according to people on this site is that everyone strives to be the biggest victim or most "marginalized" person. Never, ever voice any question or criticism of victim mentality. "Lived experience" qualifies one to be elevated to prominent positions instead of accomplishments

That is a very valid question and from my experience on this site, the answer will not come from those active here. We need a middle ground where people actually listen to each other's concerns and compromise for the good of all. We've lost that and the problem lies here as much as on the right.

I agree - I was really amazed there was no consequences to the Iraqi weapons of mass destruction lie. But the Patriot Act was passed bipartisan- everyone understood the overreach in it at the time, but we didn't care because we wanted to make sure 9/11 never happened again. Now we're paying for it.

I think about this all the time- we had a bad president with Bush, but we didn't have an unspeakable president. After being screamed at by a woman who lost a son in Iraq, W said he didn't blame her a bit. That's the difference.
