Reading the news makes me slump. Connecting with Democrat friends makes me calm. Engaging in Democratic actions makes me alive.

Action absorbs anxiety. Connection creates calm.

Looking forward to all the @franklincodemsme.bsky.social events this spring and summer.

Trump administration is preparing to deport 240,000 Ukrainians.
“This has nothing to do with strategic necessity or geopolitics,” Russia specialist Tom Nichols posted. “This is just cruelty to show Putin he has a new American ally.”
Cruelty indeed. Is this the new America that Republicans wanted?

Trump wants to give the top 1% a $280,000 yearly tax break. To offset the cost, Republicans propose $2 trillion in government cuts, targeting Medicaid and SNAP.

This budget adds $5 trillion to the national debt while gutting programs for the most vulnerable.

Thank you @antoniascatton.bsky.social for your excellent column: Don't call it a coup. Call it what it is: a crime spree. Don't call Musk a billionaire. Call him what he is: a criminal.

Love this column from the brilliant @georgelakoff.bsky.social: www.theframelab.org/how-to-thriv...

Love this song from "Suffs" (actually, I love the whole score, but this one lifts me just when I need it): youtu.be/XPyKqoRKT8g?...

Excellent article - worth reading and sharing, and incorporating into conversations with colleagues, friends, and family. Kennedy and Trump are deeply incorrect about vaccines, and will cause terrible damage if allowed to take these vaccines off the market.

Are Childhood Vaccines ‘Overloading’ the Immune System? No. (Gift Article)
Vaccines today are more efficient and contain far fewer stimulants to the immune system than some used decades ago.

I learned a new word today: kakistocracy. Means "rule by the worst." Kinda think I'll be using that word a lot in the coming years.

Just saw this: "Some things are not yours to carry." Hm. Worth exploring in this time of reflection, sadness, and determination. My energy and time are limited. How can I best use them?

Outreach still seems the best venue. But what are the best methods in this time. Welcoming any ideas you have!

This is remarkably hard for me, so yes, I do need to hear this.
I don't know who needs to hear this, but if all you accomplish this weekend is reading a riveting novel cover-to-cover whilst drinking multiple kettles of tea and consuming a scandalous amount of croissants, then you will have accomplished more than enough.

Beautiful. But sometimes that invincible something succumbs to exhaustion, to sadness, to the fear that we'll never turn this around. So hard to summon up that invincible something in the midst of that tsunami, that avalanche.

What do you do in those moments?
I have been suffering from depression and my extraordinary husband just sent me the attached and you should follow him, he is a remarkable man, as courageous as he is insightful, as strong as he is empathetic, and brilliant all the time: @bendavison.bsky.social
