Here's my message, and their vague inhuman reply
Hi Professor, I am confused. "Welcome Message" is a LAB we did a month ago in chapter one and is extremely simple thus wasting literal power/energy by using a genAl is highly unnecessary. Do you mean that we should do the assignment "31.3 PRACTICE: Input/Output* Welcome Message" in zyBooks? If so, can you explicitly state the unit # and title in the directions going forward and/or assign it directly from zyBooks? I just finished that LAB in 3 seconds. Why are we unnecessarily assigned a requirement to use a genAI? Can you also clarify by letting the whole class know: If the pyTutor assignments are required, and what % of the grade they truly are? Can we choose to do the work ourselves & submit it in zyBooks instead? Why are we deviating from the established structure of doing PAs, CAs, and LABs in zyBooks? Why are we not just assigned the LAB/assignment in zyBooks and turning it in there instead? Or using VScode or a similar real-life program? If the syllabus had stated that there would be required use of a generative Al in class, I would have dropped the class. The syllabus does not state pyTutor as a "technology requirement", "teaching philosophy", or "required assignments" in the list. This was also only introduced well past the add/drop timeframe - which means we are now stuck using a genAl against our will(s). I hope you understand how this feels from my perspective. (I thought the word "pyTutor" in the grading section was a mistake and that you meant to put "zyBooks" - since "pyTutor" was not mentioned anywhere else in the syllabus. The syllabus even states "Submit all work via zyBooks"!!) Thank you. • Roxas Hi Joshua, Thank you for sharing your perspectives. I can share more about the rationale for using zyBooks and PyTutor and also share how students have appreciated both platforms. I understand your perception about GenAl usage, and there is some truth to your concerns. As an educator, we surely need to be mindful of how and where we allow GenAl usage in the curriculum. With the current landscape, it is crucial for every professional to use GenAl to improve productivity. The Developers are encouraged to use GenAl to write code. This doesn't take away from learning. As humans still need to learn and understand and the code generated by GenAl. So I suggest adopting GenAl as we all need to become comfortable leveraging it. As an instructor, we introduce and provide a variety of printed and digital content during the course to enhance learning. Additionally, instructors are required to adjust the course as needed to meet student and course requirements and to align the coursework with the latest industry trend. Regarding your point about the assignment being simple and taking only 3 seconds for you - it's impressive to hear that students like you are comfortable with the material. At the same time, there are other students who are still having a slow start and might need a slower pace to become comfortable with the new tool. Hope this helps.

Something got my giant pumpkin plants right before I went to water this AM. Evidence points to the fucking squirrels and chipmunks I've been battling in the front garden. Words can't express my anger lmao. Probably only the one that had all it's roots attached still will survive. Recovered them.

Holy shit this C++ intro class SUCKED because of the professor. Our final just now was 2hrs to do 18 Q's. Less than 7min per Q. Here's an example. IN SEVEN MINUTES? NO LMAO. I'll bet you $1000 no one finished every question.
