I can’t believe I finally met @tananarivedue.bsky.social yesterday more than five years after being part of her speculative fiction cohort at VONA! It was during COVID so everything was virtual.

I’m writing about the juxtaposition of the suburbs of Houston, specifically Sugarland where my parents live. Just minutes from my kids summer camp is this sign and the burial ground. Writing about this is hard but necessary.

LA smog has leveled up to Delhi levels this morning. AQI at 300.
When I was in Delhi last winter, no one wore masks yet my relatives said that they just got used to it. I hope not to get used to this hellscape that I woke up to.
