I think that's mostly just the limitations of plastic, though. clear plastic looks better for conveying a "glowing" vibe for stuff that isn't literally glowing, and also allows people to install LEDs that will make them actually glow

Recruiting a new party member in a JRPG should feel like a big deal! In Demonschool your first new party member beyond the initial four is a girl you meet in the bathroom who's like "you can see demons? omg same" and she just joins you right then. It's so sudden and lame.

Toughed it out for a few more hours but I think I gotta call it. I really do not like the way this game is written. Good gameplay, great vibes, but shit just HAPPENS and none of it feels organic or like it has any weight, and it's all trying so hard to be funny but very little of it actually is

It moves through its plot beats at a lightning quick pace and the result is that none of them feel like they have any weight. A student's corpse falls from the roof and gets carried away by gangsters and the characters mostly just go "wow that sure was weird huh! anyways, "

tactility is really important to me. it's the reason I will always prefer playing video games with a controller to playing with a touch screen or even a mouse and keyboard. strings just have a kind of tactility that keys lack imo

I got a synth and it's really cool and I'm definitely going to make some cool noises with it, but like. tweaking an envelope to get a waveform in the right shape is just not fun the way guitar is fun

I joke and bitch but honestly there are also lots of really heartwarming moments during this season too. Parents who are genuinely trying to foster their kids' love of music, girls who are happy to have a colorful woman show them instruments, etc. It can be obnoxious but also very sweet

the reason I'm thinking about this is because I just watched the final trailer for Unbeatable for maybe the 50th time and I think it's a contender for one of the best trailers I've ever seen for something.... but then I went back and watched Persona 5's PV #01 again and it still wins

Like, my three most played video games of all time are WoW, FFXIV, and Genshin Impact, and I admittedly still have a big soft spot for all three... but I spent literally hundreds of hours in them just repeating tasks to the point of muscle memory. How many full games could I have played instead?

This is also why I no longer play mmos. I deeply deeply miss both gacha games and mmos but I now do not let myself play anything that expects me to play it on a schedule.
