There is a notification. Every time you upload a photo, there is a message below it reminding you about Alt Text. Here is an example of an account that doesn't have the Accessibility preference enabled.

Yes. Remember that the Alt Text must convey what you want the image to transmit. If, for example, you want people to guess where you are, give the clues, not the answer. If you just want to show where you are without location, just describe the view.

Most platforms have it now (even instagram) but they are not so visible. Bluesky is great on giving that visibility and even making it mandatory! A great win for accessibility!

You're welcome! Here in Bluesky you can go to Settings and select that Alt text is always required. It is simple and helps a lot!

Yes, everybody can see it by clicking on the Alt button. Check this one, for example, click on the button and you will read the caption:

It is quite easy to access from any device, just click on the ALT symbol and the text will appear below. Alt text is a great accessibility tool for everyone, not only visually impaired. It adds context and helps those with cognitive impairment.

Social media has been a great shift, in my opinion, as it gives a voice to the real experts on Disability: the disabled themselves. They own their story and experiences and can reach a higher audience. #AXSChat
