Writer of fiction and essays. Former daily journalist. HarperCollins kids book author. Mostly nice seeker and occasional jerk.
Thousands of young travelers backpacked overland from Europe to India in late 1960-70s. I was 18, stupid, and extremely lucky. freshhttps://open.substack.com/pub/vivianmcinerny/p/overland-the-journey-was-the-destination?r=5eqlf&utm_campaign=post&utm_medium=web&showWelcomeOnShare=false
Overland: The journey was the destination

Been thinking of the many recent rewrites of myths, fairytales and classics. I have ideas.
Catcher in the Oats: It’s gluten free!
Charlotte’s World Wide Web: A spider creates a new form of communication. Some pig gets all the glory

Dylan Thomas: “I can never remember whether it snowed for six days and six night when I was 12, or whether it snowed 12 days and 12 nights when I was six.” Editor: Google it.

I always thought life would make sense one day. With the passing years I’d figure out what it all meant, and my wisdom would help ease the path for those coming up, as though I were an early explorer bushwhacking through time. Old now. Still swinging that machete.
