My first ever gold leaf! 😍 Applied the old school way with bole and glue. This is the 1st layer of ink on what will be a 9x12” egg tempera. 24 karat💰so gonna have to up my price per inch on this one!!

I’m staring at this thing with proud mama love! Just finished. Largest egg tempera I’ve ever made—been working on it since March 👀 I’ll post a process video soon; it’s made up of an insane amount of transparent glazes.

My first bronze cast. I made the original clay piece a while back as a prop for an animation using my dog Hank as a model. Hank passed away recently and I thought making a bronze of it would be a lovely tribute 🐕 ❤️

Not sure why I thought it was a good idea to paint this pattern in the background?! Egg tempera is transparent— so I’ve had to go over it TWICE after it faded under several layers. An exercise in patience.

Thinking about Eugene Delacroix’s journal as I work on this egg tempera: “Rembrandt would have only shown the head, the hands and clothes he would scarcely have indicated…I feel it would be clumsy if I attempted such effects.” Maybe I’m gonna go “Rembrandt” on these flailing feet!

Composition for the last of the four 36” egg tempera panels I prepared. Another “pile up” ala Guston. This one also features me, with my fave pink tennis hat and the curly hair of my mature years. My hair was board straight until my late 40s.

Large new egg tempera—first layer of undersketch going down today. I spent more time than usual working on this composition. It’s a slight departure— a female heroine. Used collage to make minor compositional adjustments— you can see some adorable little deer cut outs at the top of the frame.

Prepping to teach an egg tempera only class for the first time this fall— sooooo excited! Usually I don’t take all the precautions I should when working with dry pigment, but I’m shaping up to teach the correct way!
