Had a fun afternoon on Tues, speaking on a Cantonese panel w/ Doris, @adonismyli.bsky.social, Florence & Charles on our work on the New Documentary History of HK. The talk was hosted by Lion's Ink Book, which has done so much on the outreach of HK history to the public. Thank you Lion's Ink!

Had a wonderful afternoon on Saturday, where I led a family history workshop for HK community in Bristol with our PhD students. Means so much to me that we get to draw on our research methods to support our community to preserve their family history. @hongkonghistory.bsky.social

My book Multiracial Britishness: Global Networks in Hong Kong 1910-45 is out in paperback now 😁 It's now only £29.99 (and a further 20% off discount with the code HIST1525) at shorturl.at/15uJU . Really pleased that it received positive reviews on outlets eg H-Diplo, AHR & Journal of Social History!

The tastiest pasty l’ve ever had. Perfect way to wrap up my very fruitful research trip in Cornwall this week.
Heading home with lots of inspiration, useful research material for my next book, and even a wedding dress (not mine!). Now I just need to write the book!

The encouragement I got last night is the best writing motivation I can have this morning!

On April 2, I will give another talk at Uni of York, this time focusing on her life in Cornwall and London before the deportation. Come and join me if you can! www.york.ac.uk/history/abou...

My first post here! Gotta be about my food. Presenting to Bluesky my favorite Chinese festive food: 蘿蔔糕 turnip cakes. First batch of 2025. Planning to make two more in a week’s time so I’d always have some in the fridge as I welcome the Year of the Snake 😁
