I really don't see how they could have age X country FEs but still have variation in exposure to democracy, which is measured by age X country, if they exclude immigrants.

Either they do not define immigrants as "born abroad," or there is an error somewhere.

Whether the basis for stand-your-ground laws or preventive war, fear cannot justify violence.

It is the reaction of the privileged, who believe their fear matters more than others’, and the immature, who have no self-control or social awareness.

The reactions to the attacks on Iran are missing the real issue here. Would it have been OK if it was legal domestically or effective?

No. Nuclear armed states using violence to stop weaker states from obtaining those same weapons is just absurdly hypocritical and morally wrong. Full stop.
