I'm in the camp that at this point it's not even enough to vote against cloture when the vote comes up. Any senator who doesn't object to unanimous consent and hold this up procedurally for as long as possible is not enough of a 'No' for me.

He should absolutely rescind the offer of a state visit, and make the stated reason not any political stance (since that's not properly Charles' business, he's supposed to leave that to the PM) but simply that Drumpf has demonstrated he doesn't know how to behave in polite society.

Follow up article, with the take of a surprisingly reasonable sounding local police chief who sounds pretty exasperated with the sheriff and the private security goons. www.idahostatesman.com/news/politic...

Don't know if the woman who was assaulted will have any luck pressing charges.
Update: Police chief condemns security at Idaho town hall, refuses sheriff’s request
Coeur d’Alene Police Chief Lee White condemned the actions of private security guards who pulled a woman from her chair and dragged her out of an Idaho legislative town hall.

Probably not this one... Judge Dale Ho is one of only two federal judges to be confirmed after having worked on high profile cases for the ACLU. He's sure no Aileen Cannon.

Any Dem in the Senate who doesn't filibuster on this is a traitor.

If it was just the combination of "No added sulphites" and "Contains sulphites", that much would honestly be fine - because fermentation itself does in fact produce a certain amount of sulphites.

It's the "10mg added" part that makes the label inconsistent.

So, can he actually bar lawyers he doesn't like from appearing as lawyers in federal courts, or are those buildings under the control of the judiciary and that part is empty blather?

Well, Xi probably is behind a lot of the purchases of $TRUMP, so this may be just part of getting what he paid for.

And yet one must imagine Sisyphus happy...

Even if they impeached him, they wouldn't obtain a conviction on it. Remember, the threshold for that is 2/3 in the Senate. And otherwise, if he releases it himself as an official act, the Supreme Court just ruled recently it's not reviewable.

If Trump doesn't like that approach? Well, in the alternative, could always come down to Washington and reenact the War of 1812...
January 7, 2025 at 7:47 PM
I wonder if the right approach would be to make a counter offer of each of the 13 provinces becoming a state. Yes, even Nunavut. And statehood rather than territorial status for Greenland if they have a referendum separating from Denmark and joining. 2 Senators and at least one House member each.

Under Article 5, do our troops have to fight themselves in this conflict?

She didn't strike the whole special prosecutor statute - she claimed in her dismissal that Smith wasn't eligible to serve in that role because he was pulled from elsewhere than inside DoJ. Even if she had, her ruling hasn't been tested on appeal yet, and is not precedential on other courts.
January 7, 2025 at 7:37 PM
Well, by that token, Garland and Smith should *absolutely* release the report today, and let Cannon try to enforce her ruling after the fact.
January 7, 2025 at 7:34 PM
Well at least that's not an option for her any more... her reports will have to go straight to Vlad.
