Paul Mescal has secured a loan facility of more than €1m from his entertainment firm Castle Dawson Pictures Ltd.

The 28 year old Irish actor currently starring in Ridley Scott’s #GladiatorII secured the loan at an interest rate of 4% per annum, new filings show.

Eir has revealed its gender pay gap has narrowed to a new low of 1.59% as the Irish telecoms provider aims to eliminate the gap by 2030.

The company attributed the narrowing pay gap to efforts made by the company to hire more women in senior roles and those that “attract higher overall reward”.

Irish energy provider Pinergy (@pinergy.bsky.social) turned a profit of €13.3 million last year from a loss of more than €3 million in 2022 on the back of a 38 per cent jump in revenues.

The increase came amid the growing cost of energy on customers and higher demand for its solar solutions.

Mediahuis Ireland, the publisher of the Irish Independent, saw its revenue decline by nearly 25 per cent in 2023 according to newly filed accounts.

Directors at the firm led by CEO Peter Vandermeersch noted its risks included “significant fall off in demand” for the newspapers it produces.

Dublin-based fintech CurrencyFair is on track to becoming profitable within the next two years after losses dropped more than 40% in 2023.

This was largely due to a dramatic drop in staff numbers at the firm led by Shamus Hodgson, down to 78 last year from 220 the year before.

More than half of Irish businesses are not prepared for the auto-enrolment scheme to take effect next September, according to a survey.

The scheme will ensure that around 800,000 workers in Ireland who do not have private pension get added to one with contributions from the employer and state.
