man I love that Dress Up Darling is about and explores pursuing your loves and passions regardless of what outside judgement is tried to be pushed upon.

Whether characters are trans allegories, or just unabashedly loving their hobbies, Its such an awesome positive message.

Stand in the desert. . . . Near
Half sunk a shattered visage lies, whose frown,
& wrinkled lip, and sneer
& on the pedestal, these words appear:
My name is Ozymandias, King of Kings;
Look on my Works, ye Mighty, and despair!"
Nothing beside remains. Bare
The lone & level sands stretch far away

As someone who put a lot of lore and details into my FFXIV OC including fan canon and ships too, I adore what you've written.

I'm not saying I hate it, but it is funny that ALL hit indie games are about near incomprehensible unique pantheon of god like beings controlling and shaping the world and the only reason you know this is by digging through the games lore in a not at all required side path.

Overall I'm excited with what it's doing and where it's going. It's really boldly going where no ones gone before! (for the most part)

And it's quickly turning into my spaceship of choice when asked if I could live on any particular one. I want Pike to cook for me

It informs how they interact with each other uniquely and thoughtfully. Each line is "how would they say this to them with the dynamic they have with them" more than I've seen in any other Star Trek (DS9 being close) or most of TV in general.
September 15, 2025 at 7:55 PM
Characters have ongoing lasting fluctuating dynamics with each other. Romantic, platonic, professional, friendly, mentor/mentee. New, old, long lasting, fledgling and growing and always more than one of these per character.
September 15, 2025 at 7:49 PM
The best thing however it's doing, and I will get flamed for this by other trekies, it's ensamble as the is the best of star trek. Not in individual characters ds9 still beats that out. But how they interact SNW isn't beholding itself to it being serialized so characters have evolving relationships
September 15, 2025 at 7:45 PM
It's also willing to try new things! Both not being super held down in lore (meaning they don't go hard on member berries) as well as St in general. Crossover with a cartoon, a musical, And recontextualizing ToS episodes for SNWs. They don't always stick the landing but they aren't afraid to try

It's not perfect, and those modern writing ideals clash with my want for the older age of intulectual show, preferring it's "well that just happened" moments a bit to much.

But the smart social and political commentary is there (the Klingon ambassador episode is now a top 10 fave of star trek)
September 15, 2025 at 7:37 PM
Three seasons in and just like any Star Trek I feel like Strange New Worlds has found its footing. It's a great balance of TOS camp and fantasy sci fi, TNG comfy hanging with the crew, and DISCO faster pace and modern writing sensibilities (for better or worse)
