I've been very unwell and this is the only thing I've finished but that makes me all the more proud of it. It is inspired by Frida Kahlo's "Broken Column" painting. If you would like an explanation of my artistic choices, check out the alt text. :)

In Kahlo's painting, the subject is at a 3/4 turn, the portrait only shows down to her hips, and her expression is stoney. In contrast, Viktor is facing forward, the portrait shows down to his shins, and his expression is pinched- possibly sadness? Anger? Fear? It is difficult to discern Viktor's expression. Additionally, Kahlo placed her subject in a desert of cracked earth, likely meant to further symbolism the "break" in the "column." Viktor, however, is floating. Blue sky appears to be at his feet, while the horizon of a purple ground cuts him and the piece horizontally at his neck. Viktor's "column" also plays with perspective, as the half of the column visible above his head is drawn going the opposite direction from the column visible in his chest. These conflicting elements represent the conflicting morals Viktor is faced with. Is he flying above the clouds (doing the right thing) or falling to the ground (doing the wrong thing)? Has he broken free from the column (freed Zaun from Piltover) or is he about to smash back into it? Like Kahlo's painting, Viktor is only wearing his chest and leg brace. However, these devices are silhouettes of blueish white with no details. They appear on him as if his body has been hole punched into the shape of his braces. A halo of rubble orbits his head. And his blanket, Jayce's blanket, flutters around him in the shape of a lunar moth's wings. The "wings" are gradiented from dark blue to purple to blueish white, matching the backdrop. Jayce may give Viktor the power to fly, but it's still up to Viktor whether he soars or crashes.

This was the painting I did as a teen while listening to Seal's Kiss From a Rose and I thought I was just the most amazing artist ever and I was right

oh she sent me some of the pics she took with her macro lense~ first one is of one of her isopods and the second is her rainbow stag a few weeks after she got him (no ovum visible so we think he's a boy!)
