I don’t know the situation in Kyneton, but my observation in Castlemaine was that good intentions from traditional AFL local clubs to be inclusive don’t produce the cultural changes needed for women and gender diverse people to feel and be safe.

There was a similar situation in Castlemaine a few years ago, difference being that the women’s + gender diverse club started from scratch, even though there was a competitive women’s team in the existing football/netball club. This is a link to the trailer of a doco about it. youtu.be/rEUnV0PQZlE
