I was only on the first chapter, but it’s pretty closely following the plot of Man Up, a quirky British romcom in which a man on a train (in this case Henry) through a series of silly events ends up meeting someone else’s blind date (Alex) and pretending to be the person Alex was supposed to meet.

I’m a big fan of the romcom Man Up and was enjoying this AU until, well, you know.

It was amazing how I vacillated pretty evenly between: “Alex is doing what needs to be done to be with his soulmate“ and “Oh my God, Alex needs to be committed.“ It was honestly masterfully ambiguous.

Omg this fic was so good but so uncomfortable. 😄Even I, who think Henry and Alex are fated to be together, thought Alex needed to be in therapy.

After I posted I noticed the pillow on the floor 🥹 either where Alex was initially going to sleep or where he just threw it off because OF COURSE he will just share a pillow with Henry. They are so precious and beautiful.
