damn, wasn't expecting ryzen 5000 series. yeah, cachyos is still the way to go imo. you get a bunch of DE options but i prefer KDE Plasma the most. because who else would make it so easy to do this (some apps are darker because of the "dim" desktop effect. makes things less overstimulating for me)

kde plasma, for example, has 3 default options for a start menu with different ways of displaying the same thing. then for the icons on your taskbar, you can change the spacing between them, and then you can also have the icons display the window title alongside the icon

hmm. okay. it seems like (at least some) videos which used styled captions actually use vtt (like this example: www.youtube.com/watch?v=OYG8...) so... it might be worth it to convert to ass? which IS a step you can do (see image)

selects the best video track and downloads every audio track with the opus codec (the best quality tracks), allows multiple audio tracks to be downloaded in the first place, downloads every available subtitle track, except for live chat transcripts and
auto-generated captions. only downloads .ass and .srt files because jellyfin doesn’t support .vtt, then embeds the downloaded subtitles into the final file, a fix i found on github to prevent the first language listed alphabetically in the subtitles being assigned the “default” flag, embeds information such as the title and description into the video file, writes the thumbnail as a seperate file (it doesn’t properly embed into the mkv) and chooses mkv as the container for the final video, writes files using windows-compatible filenames, while utilizing
unicode to replace colons and other problematic punctuation,
sets an output directory, and downloads videos with just their titles.
PLAYLIST:
the command is almost identical, with the addition of a "--ignore-errors" (which means that yt-dlp "won’t stop downloading when coming across unavailable videos") flag after specifying the audio tracks, and a different path, which, "creates a directory for each playlist, and predixes a number according to a video’s position
