grimes: *assaults alice and treats her like garbage* *steals peter’s work, blames him, and makes him feel inherently inferior*
yeah but at least he doesn’t yell at you /s

being called lazy and believing it, despite your body literally trying to kill itself.
relatable.

we hate to see it.

though, this girl needs therapy.
and Peter has so much patience with her. I’d be livid.

I’m about 50% of the way through this book and haven’t really enjoyed it?
kind of a bummer. idk if it’s the plot or if I’m just in a shit mood.

Bound by Ali Hazelwood
Narrated by Brittany Pressley & William MacLeod 🎧📚
“I have not betrayed my own moral code… at least, not yet.” 😏
shy, hot professor is 10/10.
but, I’m sorry, this plot felt so shallow to me. a puddle.
also some of the duet narration wasn’t edited correctly.

I think for me it’s that she hasn’t acknowledged how much the professor’s treatment of her is abusive.
and her sense of morality and direction are negatively affected by her loyalty to her teacher.

this has been a common occurrence for me with young FMCs recently. and I’m a little concerned about what that means 😅
unconscious bias? internalized misogyny? or are the characters just written to be immature and the frustration is justified?

Alice states the river is too far away for it to help with the bone things.
she gets taken away, attacked, and then the Boatman shows up to save Alice,
then travels down the river close enough to grab Peter.
did the river move???

reminds me of something a presenter said at a work conference I attended: men are measured by their potential, women are scrutinized by their results.

“I love Americans, so unconventional.”
this may be an irrational complaint but it’s how I feel 😅

having Big Feelings™️ about how their professor is disgustingly manipulative without any accountability (aside from being dead).
the way sorcery is presented as a science is really neat, as well as the commentary on generational conflict.
not fully bought-in yet, though.

Not Catching Love by Saxon James
Narrated by Teddy Hamilton 🎧📚
“apparently self-hatred isn’t a thing most people do, and he wants me to work on it—go figure.”
definitely the most emotionally complex of the series. mixed feelings about the morality of the relationship. emotional HEA.
