yes this list does show I might have a bias for loli charas, obviously, but. even in the top two rows you can see Ichika and Mika just chilling there
and Yuuka+Hifumi+Kirino+Miyako are more designed as JKs rather than falling into that box imo, despite what some fanart might have you believe

it's still WIP because. I am still catching up with some event-re-runs, but I did basically read through all stories and immortalized ones. there's still lots of grind involved in unlocking all bond stories too for example, I technically already have Iroha but I'm waiting to binge! :D

at this point I just see Kaya as a gag character really. it's the best way to try and tolerate her, I will still not take any part of her seriously yet, and I think it's fine for a cast this big to have someone like her

I still would give kudos to the writer for like, making Kaya THAT evil, because like, when her plan falls apart before her eyes, it's literally so funny to see her be mad lol.... it is a little cathartic to see the failure there, even though it's probably not the dev's intent to make it be comedy

that being said, yes, I do appreciate evil girlboss women, I guess I just have a line for it and where Rio and Mika crosses over into being (almost)-acceptable, Kaya doesn't. I can't explain why or how, but that's just how it is

while Kaya's only "initial", few "acting" interactions with the MC already gives off bad vibes and there's no level of genuine discussion that I appreciate out of her lol... pretty sure in whatever little offer she gives, ultimately she still wants control and is already scheming far

but like. the reason I relate to Mika more is because even in the initial conversations, it seems like she has little bits of sincerity.

I know flashbacks into a personal, sad backstory should be like. saved for later, but like. I can't even believe she has one. if they do give her one I will think that the devs retconned it in, and I wish they never do, despite being thankful Mika probably had that exact thing happen to her

(Vol 4) she really basically usurped someone at gunpoint for no good reason, and maybe the fact that (iirc) they gave her a CG doing this made her look even worse than Mika, but like.. you can't just have someone be that-evil and not show adequate reasoning. it feels too quick and abrupt

some(?) times in the middle, she tries to grasp whatever bit of salvation that she can, and it can sometimes be almost commendable, or at least pitiable, that still makes me realize she's just a normal girl sometimes. some of the reveals can be slow at telling you this, but not in a bad way

I will agree that her initial "reason" of doing bad things is, quite frankly, comically-simple (she's "school-racist"), and I know that has troubling implications, but it's such a minor part of the story in the grand scheme of things that I don't mind that being a thing at all

there's just something very human and endearing, again, to a cute-anime-girl who just made a little mistake, and end up feeling trapped and needing to stick with the hand they're given and played, even if it's technically a snowballing, downward spiral into murderous rage here and there.

maybe I just easily equate "this made me tear up" into "wow, what a good story", and her slow redemption keeps sneaking up on me that way, but..
when she does the things she does I was like "damn, they COULD write something like this?"

(Vol3) on the other hand, Mika is... well. she can be a little of an intense surprise, but I still like her a lot. just. on top of the aesthetic qualities of being pretty and cute, her characterization (before any attempts at giving her a redemption arc) was actually quite interesting to me
