This 1920s filigree ring bears a hallmark for Larter & Sons of Newark, NJ. We were surprised by this because they were better known for making cufflinks and shirt stud sets. Rings were a less common thing for them to produce, making this even more special!

A beautiful gallery on this one-off design in 14k from the 1960s. The gem is a lab-grown purple sapphire which is original to the setting. Large lab-grown gems set in bold gold were very popular in the 1940s-60s.

These 19k gold hoops are a traditional Portuguese filigree found in gold and silver. What we know as Portuguese filigree originates in ancient Greco-Roman jewelry from circa 2500 BCE. The styles we see today were perfected over hundreds of years, especially in the northern part of the country.
