I've been far more successful in careers without unions than I have been in ones with them. One of the best things about non union work is you don't have to worry about things like seniority. I have been able to surpass many people by drive and merit alone.

Fame without merit just seems false, he had one of the most popular TV shows in the apprentice, also even before that he had done a lot to help cut the BS of New Yorks bureaucracy and got things done cheaper and better.

I'm generally against unions, but my main question is if they don't like the working conditions, or the way the company is doing things, why wouldn't you just quit and find a job more aligned with what you want out of it? Plenty of other options especially for those who want to work as a barista.

Doing what I can 3% to 401K with employer match and 2% towards an Emergency fund which I wish was a lot more of a fallback than it is. Also an additional 1% in the stock market.
