Halloween season watch list #26: WNUF HALLOWEEN SPECIAL. If you ever wanted to watch a found footage movie that nails the aesthetic of a VHS recording of a newscast you forgot about from...probably the early 90s at the latest, this movie is it. They go as far as including "vintage" local ads.

Halloween season watch list #26: WNUF HALLOWEEN SPECIAL. If you ever wanted to watch a found footage movie that nails the aesthetic of a VHS recording of a newscast you forgot about from...probably the early 90s at the latest, this movie is it. They go as far as including "vintage" local ads.
Halloween season watch list #25: NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD (1968). I've watched this every Halloween for a few years now, as I wind down giving out candy at the end of the night. Still effective as hell, this many years later. And that 4K disc is *crisp* as hell.

Told you I love anthologies for spooky season, and I meant that shit. This movie seamlessly blends its storylines to overlap each other, adding context as it goes. It rewards repeat viewings, and is both whimsical and mean as hell. I love it.

Halloween season watch list #23: CREEPSHOW 2. Been a long time since I sat down for this one, and I remember liking it quite a bit. It definitely doesn't feel the same in tone to the first one but it's an anthology and anthology horror just FEELS like spooky season.

Halloween season watch list #22: SPOOKIES a lot of "new-to-me" watches this season, and this is one of them. Never caught this one before but I know of its production weirdness and how it still sorta works despite that.

My biggest gripe with BARBARIAN was the abrupt and jarring POV shift that robs the movie of its tension and plot momentum. So I did not like WEAPONS, either.

Halloween season watch list #13: ONE CUT OF THE DEAD. Another first watch, long delayed on my part. I love every aspect of this movie, having now seen it. The precision with which it's all put together, the passion for the work that is conveyed in simple exchanges & the rush to "get it done". 10/10

Halloween season watch list #10: NOROI: THE CURSE A legitimately creepy found footage that takes some needed liberties with the formula to setup some very smart reveals. Doesn't hand hold but rewards paying attention. Happy I sat down for this one
