Even beyond the (mostly early-game I think) challenge of using only shields, I'm reminded how much I love this game. With its writing, worldbuilding, gameplay, it's such a lovely exploration within its genre. It's no surprise why so many other games have gone on to try capturing this style of game.

So after catching up with Seigmeyer, slapping divine onto a heater shield and spelunking in the catacombs, and enhancing my +10 Knight's shield with the Moonlight Butterfly's soul, I've ended up with a respectable shield arsenal.

The hardest boss so far has certainly been O&S. Even with shields to better defend both strikes and lightning, the pressure from both was more unrelenting than before. I had to withdraw from Anor Londo after too many failed attempts against Super Smough to figure out some better offensive options.

The Dark Souls itch finally caught back up with me at the end of last year, so I decided to revisit DS1. But as a game I've played through a dozen times and know in and out, I wanted to make this revisit novel. Shield only.
