Can't be THAT complicated eh?

So many of us aren't built for those. Yet we basically are required to do them. Or.... I guess to take out a loan to start a business.

There's absolutely no way PS6 is actually staying planned for 2027 in this environment, right? Everyone wants the current gen to actually last a long ass time.

I can't even think of what that fourth one was because honestly at this point theres so many in my lifetime that I FORGET some...
November 26, 2025 at 4:48 PM
I think about that a lot. Personally, 2008 didn't hurt too bad because I hadnt started my career, then covid hurt but I hung onto my job and the recovery came so fast there were actually MORE jobs. This next AI one really, really scares me.
November 26, 2025 at 4:46 PM
Took me ages to find what I actuallly wanted to do and I'm not even sure I found it yet. The cycle to break for me was having a job that took so much of my mental bandwidth that I couldn't even begin to think about making a change.
November 11, 2025 at 11:50 PM
Hate that feeling. Random suggestion, but have you considered trying to get one of those mindless repetitive jobs (like factory assembly?) juuuust to get yourself stable financially without eating up too much mental bandwidth while you figure out what the next real thing is?
November 11, 2025 at 11:48 PM
Is there any good sector to job hunt in right now besides maybe construction and AI? Sigh. Shitty time to live in.
November 9, 2025 at 1:01 AM
It's circular spending that's causing it. Pretty similar to the dotcom bubble. Truly doesn't mean AI is going away, but means we'll see a market decline (which will cause a big recession) at some unpredictable point in the next few years.

The industry in the west needs to rethink its entire production methodology and look at things like what Sandfall did. And the end result I suspect will be far fewer games workers and much outsourcing, which in itself isnt good for us industry workers. Shit situation all around.
October 4, 2025 at 7:13 PM
Exactly. And frankly, I think the endgame of this culling will be a healthier industry for the fewer people working in it as the cycle resets, but I think we'll see absolute devastation and great human cost before then. There's not many healthy western publishers left.

I'd argue it's not even about to crash, but actively crashing. Don't beat yourself up too hard. Everyone can always "do more," but you should not have to "fight" to simply survive in one of the richest countries in the world. Full stop.
October 4, 2025 at 5:50 PM
Sorry, man. The only safe career these days is employment law helping laid off ppl get good severance packages. Christ. Games industry in the west is just a shitshow right now. Full on crashing. I work in games too and I count my lucky stars every day that I haven't yet had to rethink my career...

I 100% regret buying one. It was so expensiv3 for minor benefits in some games, and the few I care most about (like Silent Hill games) tend to have major debilitating issues where I'd rather play on a base system I no longer have. Will think twice before I buy another mid-gen "refresh".

I'm jealous. Was just overcome with a sudden urge to turn off all data and do this on an upcoming rainy weekend. Physical media's the greatest! And I probably could use a weekend without seeing headlines pop up on my phone...

Forgive yourself for that - it's truly so normal. Small goals. Baby steps. Only thing that works, believe me. Excited to see what your character looks like!
September 4, 2025 at 12:57 AM
It's crazy how capitalism is all about shacking people to work to justify their existence, but preaches that as freedom. It's the opposite, and people who "win" at it ironically prove it while preaching its virtues. Financially free people end up doing more meaningful work.

So THAT'S why I'm so into it!
August 22, 2025 at 4:32 PM
Looks fantastic!
August 19, 2025 at 10:19 PM
Random thought but could it be your goals that are too big and distant / foggy? My own brain definitely works that way. If I say I have to lose 30 pounds for example I freeze up and do nothing. But lose 1 lb this week? I do it and I keep going, then look back and realize I achieved a big goal later.
August 11, 2025 at 9:47 PM
Incredibly fucked. And I very much worry it won't be the last of it, particularly for companies that were new to gaming during the COVID bubble. Now that investment returns look better in the future of AI than games, big money is chasing that. Truly dark stuff.

I played like 4 hours already, I'm so happy DK's back 😭
