They deleted it from Bluesky and apparently changed the cover image and the blurb on Facebook, but left it up unaltered on LinkedIn.

The URC has deleted the post in question and posted an apology; I have also had a response from the head of communications informing me of these actions. Having consulted with the church on dialogue issues in the past, I am not entirely happy with the attempt invoke dialogue as mitigation.

Not specific to students but this was definitely an argument used about Jewish refugees in 1938.

These people before us, however, are not genuine; they are attempting to pass themselves off as something that they are not, to gain an unearned advantage, to trespass upon our generosity. They are, therefore, a threat. If you want the best possible view of Niagara Falls, forget the viewing platform or the Maid of the Mists, just walk across the Rainbow Bridge and stop halfway over. But preferably do it on purpose, not because your alternative is being stranded by the malicious incompetence of a railway company.
