Apparently, I now have to verify my age in order to read direct messages (or access 'adult content' - though TBH, I didn't realise there was any on Bluesky).

Therefore, please don't DM me.
I noticed yesterday that my phone had used almost 60GB of data over WiFi in the last month. Similar last month, more the month before, and... no idea why so much less before that.

(I can see the useage by app, but not going into that now...)

To illustrate that normal use further: August was a normal month. I was away from home quite a bit in September, and also at the end of October - and November is due to my non-working broadband.

The reason I don't normally think about this is clear; the normal month is nothing.

What do you mean? I see no issues with it at all? It's not as though anyone is working on the wrong side of a screen, or sat IN a desk, or... or... or... um...😬

My parents' dog helping at work by making the most of the small amoung of sunlight she found.

Hmm. After getting annoyed (again) at the incompatibility between the sizes of toaster slots and slices of bread, this time my swearing took me online to find yet another toaster.

Found one.

Can't decide which colour to go for, though. Black that looks white, or white that looks black?

And just in case its logic was that the contents of the loop would execute once, but technically because it doesn't actually loop (IYSWIM) it doesn't count as looping, I followed it with this.

So it's not getting off on a technicality.

For comparison, I asked Grok, with exactly the same wording as your question, and it came up with the same wrong answer.

I was today years old when I realised that the Vision On graphic is made up of the programme's title.

I asked it with subtly different wording, and it gave me pretty much the same answer, but with one extra sugary treat: "The year 2010 will be 15 years ago in 2025, which is next year."

Obviously won't work on me, but it does fuel my cynicism over the message that appeared the other day on my smart meter in-house display.

A blank message with only a 'confirm' button? What do they want me to confirm? I'm now wondering if hitting that would've confirmed I want to cancel my switch.

The subject line of this email from my old (after tomorrow) electricity supplier, and the larger text, strikes me as being an attempt at making a more gullible, less aware customer worry.

Naughty Fuse.

If they were really on the ball with that, though, this nonsense wouldn't be necessary.
August 30, 2025 at 9:05 AM
* Imagines they send out a follow-up email that has a lifetime of experience hunting wild emails (with elite tracking skills) for food.

What they really refer to is cookies and embedded shit in HTML emails. Tracking is the wrong word, but average Mr Joe Public wouldn't know that.

So what you're saying is that I can be absolutely sure this is really you because you include in your email information which is piss easy for anyone to find out about me? Gotcha. I'm 100% reassured. 🤦‍♂️

Didn't add the picture. 🤦‍♂️

'Second' lunch spot. Nothing to see but trees in all directions. My car is about 200 meters to my left (though not via the route I've taken). I've stopped to eat a) because I'm hungry and b) to put off the final walk to the car - there's no direct path, so I'm going to have to head for the road. 😐

This seems like a nice spot for lunch - sitting atop the smaller of two burial mounds ("Wentwood's Ancestors")

Easy to get to from the nearest car parks, but I took a different route - not a long one, but definitely more pleasant.

The description for the £7.04 one does, though. It seems to suggest the annual was written by him & only published by DC Thompson in 2018.

Er... whut?

Bulk listing tool screw up? And eBay compounding the error by associating the name with other listings for the same item?
August 20, 2025 at 11:08 PM
Ebay search term: "Ian Fleming"

Included in the results: The 2018 Beano annual.

Two different listings.

My initial guess as to why: perhaps there's a notable reference to IF in that annual and the item descriptions mention it.

The £1.13 item has no mention.

I think I may have confuzzled Bing maps.

Either that, or I've found a small part of the country that works the same way as some computer games.
August 14, 2025 at 3:12 PM
Started typing one of my more regular search terms into the eBay app, and spotted something.

I wonder how far back this goes? My guess is how long I've had my current phone - I bet it 'corrected' the 'mistake' and today is the first time I noticed.

(eBay obviously copes)

Disabling DMs would be ideal. Meanwhile, this fucker is still there, unread, because I'm not going to be verifying my age.

Whoever is in the habit of writing Bond parodies, this would be a good title. 😁

I thought they'd stopped making these.

Woohoo! 😃

Okay, own up - given what I said this morning, which of you is trying to be funny? 🤣
