Nothing quite like a slice of pumpkin pie, in the early AM chill of the 3 season room where the rest of the feast lies waiting, and the two visiting cousin pups, Ranger and Stella, are having their breakfast.

After a bit of shopping, we had a taxi take us (myself, my wife, and our friend)out of the ZTL zone of Lucca , then I got to drive us all from Lucca to Pisa, Livorno, and Fiumicino along the coast listening to Puccini from the golden hour into evening.
It was a good day.

Stopped by Puccini's birthplace in Lucca, played o mio babbino caro on the phone - softly, so we would not disturb the folks doing normal Monday afternoon things in the piazza - and thought of my mom, who loved opera in retirement, after 40 years in the elementary classroom.
