"Hamilton" is now playing on the big screen in the U.S. The debate between Jefferson and Hamilton is one of my favorite scenes. And every appearance by King George III. Highly recommended.
A logo for the production of Hamilton says that it is available to see on the big screen, starting September 5th.

It's startling to see the zeal/vitriol from youngster Stephen Miller, who at only 39 years old, is Trump's chief attack dog. In 2022, he cited family privacy concerns when refusing demands to examine his cell phone (relating to the Jan. 6 Capitol attempted coup). He was on his parents' calling plan.

Rookie You thought you could ride a bicycle but, turns out, those weren't bikes they were extremely bony horses. And that wasn't a meal you cooked, that was a microwaved hockey puck. And that wasn't a book that was a taco stuffed with daisies. What if you thought you could tie your laces? But all this time you were just wrapping a whole roll of sellotape round your shoe and hoping for the best? And that piece of paper you thought was your tax return? A crayon drawing of a cat. And your best friend is actually a scarecrow you stole from a field and carted away in a wheelbarrow. Your mobile phone is a strip of bark with numbers scratched into it. Thousands of people have had to replace their doors, at much expense, after you battered theirs to bits with a hammer believing that was the correct way to enter a room. You've been pouring pints over your head. Playing card games with a pack of stones. Everyone's been so confused by you: opening a bottle of wine with a cutlass, lying on the floor of buses, talking to babies in a terrifyingly loud voice. All the while nodding to yourself like Yeah, this is how it's done.' Planting daffodils in a bucket of milk.

Very nice gathering at the General Village yesterday in Hsinchu City. The art market was a concept and a real thing. DIY art and artists doing their work. The most valuable part was the set of engaging conversations. Congratulations to the Art Site/Railway Warehouse for a successful event! #新竹市

I recently got permanent resident status in Taiwan. It would've been weird and cruel for the government to drop the bureaucratic ball, to leave me in limbo as my old ID status/permission expired, to send the police after me, or to detain/kick me out. (Tattoos≠evidence.)

On the 104th anniversary of the massacre in Tulsa, Oklahoma (5/31 - 6/1, 1921), I'm thinking about white jealousy and resentment towards others. Dr. Carol Anderson of Emory University cites this as some of the "kindling" that leads to disaster. You have to wonder if the MAGA slogan is talking about white domination being the "great" time. The 1950s, the 40s, the 20s. Is sharing just too much for white folk? I don't think that's really true. Is it only possible to share if you're the one sitting on the pile of loot? Maybe that's it. Why so much rushed emphasis on trying to remove people and programs that remind us of American diversity? Why grab people who are participating in daily life, like working at a restaurant or showing up for court dates and paperwork appointments? "Due process" is just another way of saying "let it play out by the rules we've already set up." Is that really too much to stomach? Do you really want the feds--any feds--invading your neighborhood because of federal impatience with federal rules? What will you do if the feds recruit amateur tough guys to grab people in your neighborhood? One of the many troubling things about the Tulsa massacre is that deputies were suddenly created by the city police department (about 500 in the space of 30 minutes). What would the consequences be of newly-created deputies created by ICE? They wouldn't have the training or experience. Would they have the twinge of conscience that trained officers might?

It was fun to see the filmed stage version of "Hamilton" from 2016 again.

It was just as good as two years ago, or whenever we signed up for the Disney+ streaming service. It deserves just as much celebration as it got before.

Now it is 2025. What shall we do?
